How To Create Effective Headlines
How To Create Effective Headlines
Unless your headline is eye catching and makes the customer want to know more then he/she will move away from your site and you lose a potential sale possibly to a rival website!
An well constructed headline can keep your readers eyes fixed on the monitor leaving he/she wanting to discover more information about what you want to sell them.
So how do you write an effective headline?
I suggest that you always use the word you in the headline. This makes your headline appear more personal to the reader and many successful internet marketers are certain this increases their sales conversions.
Your consumers want to know what it is that you can do for them. In fact a good headline should let the reader realise the benefits of your product immediately. An example headline is: At Last Now You Really Can Get Rid of That Huge Fat on Your Stomach. Immediately the consumer knows he/she is about to find out how the program you are selling will help them to lose body fat.
Some internet marketers have suggested that your headline should read as a paragraph. In my personal experience I have had better conversions with headlines like the one set out above as it is more eye catching. Besides a paragraph can always be used for a subheading.
Font style size and colour are all of considerable importance to write an effective headline. This should stand out more then any other part of your sales page. The colour that works most effectively best will depend on the colour of the background on your page but invariably I find red or blue looks best. I also make the font as large as I can as again this helps to make your headline stand out. The font must also be in bold and you should resist using an unusual style of text. I think Ariel looks most professional.
I have viewed a number of headlines that blend in to the sites page and is not difficult to miss. This is the worst case scenario. If your headline doesn’t stand out then your reader will more than likely skip over your sales page no matter how impressive the content is.
The headline is so critical that I suggest writing about 5 to 20 variations before choosing one. This way you can take different phrases from different headlines mix them up and create a more effective headline that really speaks to your consumer.
If your product is not converting well I recommend you consider amending your headline first. I would also recommend logging on to one of the many work at home forums and getting further viewpoints. These forums are full of people who are more than willing to give their advice for free.
SubHeadlines
Your subheadline is vital to supplement the work your headline has done to generate your customer’s interest in the product. If your sub headline is badly constructed then you will quickly lose your consumer. The subheadline should raise your customer’s interest in your product. Take for example the headline we used above a subheadline might read something like this: And no! This method doesnt involve cabbage soup diets and a considerably amount of sit ups!
This subheadline responds to some of the questions the consumer might have and also raises more curiosity. Ive left the reader wanting more information about the method I have to their problem.
The subheadline should be big but not as big as the main headline. It should also be in an alternative colour to your main headline because you dont want your sub headline to steal the attention of your main headline.
